July 30, 2020 - House League Refunds Complete
All house league refunds have now been processed as of 2:30 pm July 30, 2020. Emails were sent out to each division seperately but I wanted to ensure a second email was sent to everyone to confirm that all refunds have now been processed. Cheques were all mailed earlier this month to players who paid by cash or cheque.
If you paid online, and you do not see your refund on your credit card by Thursday August 6th, please feel free to reply to this email with your child's full name and birthdate and we will investigate and provide further information.
I have included a statement below from our VP of Finance, Rob Hums.
"I first would like to acknowledge the financial health of the NBA. While all the work we do is on the non-profit basis, a key component of non-profit budgets is funding a reserve over the years in case of a rainy day. Well, this summer was a monsoon! We will have $0 in revenue for 2020 but still have the funds to pay for tens of thousands of dollars in overhead for expenses incurred since last fall (paid staff, rent, internet/phone, bank fees, business insurance, etc.) and most importantly refunds to our members. I’m sure you heard the stories about other youth sports associations who have only offered partial refunds, credits for 2021 or, worse, become insolvent or declared bankruptcy leaving families without any reimbursement. (Example: a rep soccer association in Toronto is refunding only 10% of fees since they were under contract to pay their professional coaches.)"
I would like to close by thanking all players, parents, volunteer coaches, assistant coaches, team managers, and the NBA board for working so hard to make the best of these challenging times.
