June 14, 2021 update - House League Plans!
Geat news!!! Although we aren't able to start the Newmarket Baseball house league program just yet, we can now provide some information on what to expect for the upcoming season. We are very excited to see the players and coaches back on the diamonds as soon as restrictions allow.
**Please remember that all the information below is subject to change based on updates provided by the Government of Ontario, The Ministry of Public Health, Baseball Ontario and the Town of Newmarket. **
Season Opening
Mark your calendars - we are planning to start the season on Monday July 5th (or as soon after this date that Ontario moves into Stage 2 of the reopnening plan)
Registration Deadline - June 20th
The registration deadline is June 20th and there is a maximum of 50 players in each division. Players who register after this date or after the division is full will be put on a wait list with no gurantee of obtaining a space on a team. You will receive a second confirmation email if you are placed on the wait list.
Team Information and Schedules
You should expect to receive information about your team, who the coach is and your team schedule the last week of June before the long weekend.
Weekdays only until playoffs! (except 18U)
For this year only, we wanted to give families time to enjoy their summer together as much as possible. Newmarket Baseball has decided there will only be practices and games scheduled during the week. There will be no weekend practices or games until the Championship weekend (see below) 18U games will continue to take place on Sunday/Monday.
Playoff Tournaments/Championship Weekends
Teams from 7u to 18U will have Championship Weekends in their division.
Playoffs will take place Friday September 10th to Sunday September 12th. (rainout weekend would be Friday September 17th to Sunday September 19th)
T-Ball Closing Ceremonies
The T-Ball division will have their closing ceremonies on Wednesday September 8th (Rainout date would be Wednesday September 15th)
There are no playoffs for Tball
Covid Protocols, Sanitization and Face Masks
Newmarket Baseball will have strict protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of all our players, families, coaches, volunteers, and umpires. Before the season begins you will receive a detailed information package regarding the safety protocols in place for the season including screening, attendance tracking, sanitization, and when it's required to wear a face mask. Each player will be required to bring a face mask and hand sanitizer to each game and practice so please be sure to stock up in advance!
Refunds
Newmarket Baseball would like to assure families that If the restrictions from the pandemic do not allow us to run house league this season, or if you are waitlisted and do not get a space on a team, refunds will be given to all house league participants minus a very small $5 administration fee to cover the cost of online registration service charges.
2021 Baseball Season
This season may not look the same as previous years but with some modifications made to the house league program we are optimistic that we will be able to provide a program that focuses on player development, sportsmanship and fun while also teaching the fundamental skills of baseball.
