July 10,2020 Update from Newmarket Baseball - Health and Safety Reminder

Good Afternoon Players and Families,

As Newmarket Baseball coaches are gearing up to get back to scheduled practices, we would like to remind players and parents of the following health and safety guidelines.

Below you will find some reminders and a checklist to help you prepare for the practices to begin:

Reminders! You should review these reminders with your child.
  • All players, coaches and volunteers must complete and submit the Participation Waiver, the Declaration of Compliance and the Rowan's Law Acknowledgement prior to attending practice. Instructions were sent out by email. If you are unsure of where to find these forms, please ask your coach.
  • All players must complete a self assessement prior to each practice. If you are sick or feel unwell, you are not permitted to attend the practice. (See below)
  • Do not arrive more than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time and plan to leave immediately after practice ends.
  • All protocols and rules must be followed at all times or participants will be asked to leave the diamond.
  • Players, parents and coaches must maintain physical distancing while at the diamonds.
  • There are no high fives, fist bumps, hugging etc allowed.
  • There is a maximum of 10 people allowed at any practice or event. This includes players, coaches AND parents. It is recommended that you drop off your player and return to pick up at the end of practice, wait in your car, or go for a walk during practice.
  • Do NOT send sunflower seeds with your child. Sunflower seeds are not permitted
  • Be sure to wash all clothing worn at practice prior to the following practice.

Player Checklist
  • I have completed and submitted all necessary forms and waivers.
  • I have completed the self assessment and do not feel unwell.
  • I have brought all required equipment (ie bat, glove, helmet, cleats etc) Players are not permitted to share equipment.
  • I have brought my own water bottle and snacks. Players are not permitted to share water or snacks.
  • I have brought my own hand sanitizer and will use it regularly at practice
  • I understand what it means to maintain physical distancing and will practice doing so through the entire practice

IF YOU ANSWER YES TO ANY OF THESE QUESTIONS YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO ATTEND THE PRACTICE OR TEAM EVENT
 
Are you experiencing any of the following symptoms?
  • Fever(feeling hot to the touch, a temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius or higher)
  • Chills
  • Cough that's new or worsening(continuous, more than usual)
  • Barking cough, making a whistling noise when breathing(croup)
  • Shortness of breath(out of breath, unable to breathe deeply)
  • Sore throat
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Runny nose(not related to seasonal allergies or other known causes or conditions)
  • Stuffy or congested nose(not related to seasonal allergies or other known causes or conditions)
  • Lost sense of taste or smell
  • Pink eye(conjunctivitis)
  • Headache that’s unusual or long lasting
  • Digestive issues like nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain (not related to other known causes or conditions)
  • Muscle aches that are unusual or long lasting
  • Extreme tiredness that is unusual(fatigue, lack of energy)
  • Falling down often
  • For young children and infants: sluggishness or lack of appetite
Are you in any of these at-risk groups?
  • Getting treatment that compromises (weakens) your immune system (for example, chemotherapy, medication for transplants, corticosteroids, TNF inhibitors)
  • Having a condition that compromises (weakens) your immune system (for example, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, immunodeficiency disorder)
  • Having a chronic (long-lasting) health condition (for example, diabetes, emphysema, asthma, heart condition, COPD)
  • Regularly going to a hospital or health care setting for a treatment (for example, dialysis, surgery, cancer treatment)
In the last 14 days, have you been in close physical contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19?
 
In the last 14 days, have you been in close physical contact with a person who either:
• is currently sick with a new cough, fever, or difficulty breathing?
• returned from outside of Canada in the last 2 weeks?

Have you travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days?
