April 4,2020 Update from Newmarket Baseball
Dear Newmarket Baseball House League Families,
I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. Thank you to everyone for your patience as we try to navigate through the upcoming weeks. Although there is still a lot of uncertainty about the season ahead, the Newmarket Baseball Executive has met through a video conference call and voted on how we can best support our families during this time. It goes without saying that the health and safety of our families are the first priority. We understand there are many questions about the upcoming season and we are working diligently to have answers to these questions however we, like everyone, are waiting to see what the upcoming weeks bring before we are able to decide how the 2020 season will look. Although we don't have answers to all of your questions, below you will find some answers regarding the upcoming season.
Question: Will Newmarket Baseball be cancelling the upcoming season?
Answer: We hope not. We are making every effort to plan for the season to start as soon as we are able. However, this may mean having a short season later in the summer. We will continue to send updates as they are available.
Question: When would the season open?
Answer: We will not be able to provide a date for when the season will open until the Government of Ontario lifts the restriction on the closures of all parks and sports fields.
Question: Will there be an Opening Day Parade and Celebration?
Answer: If it is safe to do so, we may plan for an Opening Day Parade prior to the season starting.
Question: I registered my child for House League, can I request to withdraw my child for the season and request a refund?
Answer: We understand many families may have concerns or financial struggles during this uncertain time. If you would like to withdraw your child and request a refund, please email admin@newmarketbaseball.com. There will not be any penalties or fees for refunds at this time.
Questions: If the season is cancelled at a later date will I get a refund then?
Answer: Yes, full refunds will be provided for all house league players if the season is cancelled.
Questions: Will there be a partial refund if the season is delayed or shortened?
Answer: Yes, a partial refund will be available. Newmarket Baseball will calculate a fair refund if the season is shorter than planned.
Question: Can rep and select players request a refund?
Answer: Since rep and select players start in October and part of the YSBA, refunds will not be given at this time. If the season is cancelled completely, refunds will be calculated based on a number of factors. More information will be provided as soon as we have an update.
Question: I sponsored a team in house league, can I request a refund for sponsorship?
Answer: Yes, we understand many businesses may be struggling at the moment and may need to withdraw support for this season. Please email admin@newmarketbaseball.com to request a refund.
