The Newmarket Baseball Association 2025 season begins two weeks! We are excited to invite all of our players and their families to the Newmarket Baseball Annual Opening Day Parade and Ceremonies!
Opening Day is Saturday May 10th from 9am to 11am!
VOLUNTEERS!
Adults and High School Volunteers are needed for Opening Day! If you are interested in Volunteering on May 10th from 8am until noon please contact Danielle Edwards at admin@newmarketbaseball.com. This is a good opportunity for high school students to earn volunteer hours. Volunteers are needed for setup/clean up, chaperones during the parade, scavenger hunt coordinators and for other various tasks throughout event.
NEW THIS YEAR! NBA Scavenger Hunt!
Newmarket Baseball Association will be hosting a fun scavenger hunt game for players immediately after the opening day ceremonies. Watch for a second email with more information about the scavenger hunt and how to sign up! Players must register to join the scavenger hunt! There will be prizes available to be won for all players that join in.
HOUSE LEAGUE COACHES
All of our coaches and assistant coaches are encouraged to attend the parade and meet other coaches and players from your division.
REP/SELECT/ELITE COACHES
All coaches from rep, select and elite teams that are available to join the parade ceremonies should come with your team to the starting point of the parade and plan to walk down with the players.
HELP! I DON’T KNOW WHAT TEAM I’M ON
We are doing things a little different this year. With team evaluations taking place the first two weeks of May, some players won't know what teams they are on during the parade. Players will be instructed to meet up in their divisions to walk in the parade. T-Ball players will receive their team information prior to opening day. 7U to 13U players will not receive their jerseys until their first practice. 15U/18U players will receive their team information prior to opening day.
TEAM JERSEYS
T-Ball players will receive their jerseys and hats at the parade. 7U to 18U players will receive their team jerseys at the first practice.
PARADE INFORMATION
All players will march down Timothy Street to the Fairgrounds to meet the NBA Executive, Town Officials, and the Mayor of Newmarket, John Taylor who will be throwing the “First Pitch” to officially start the 2025 Season!
WHEN: Saturday, May 10, 2025, 8am to approx 11am
WHERE: All Our Kids Play Park (also known as the Dinosaur Park). The Park runs north off of Timothy Street in Newmarket. It is between the Newmarket Community Centre (Riverwalk Commons, where the skating rink was) and the condo lofts at 543 Timothy St. The train tracks run along its western border.
PARADE FORMATION: Teams from each division line up behind their team flag (e.g. T Ball at the front, then 7U then 9U etc.)
PARADE ROUTE: We will march east on Timothy Street, cross Prospect with the help of York Region Police, continue down the hill to the Fairgrounds, and end up at the main diamond at McKnight/The Fairgrounds Park. We expect about 500 parade participants will all get there by 9:30 am.
TIME
Please arrive a the playground between 8am and 8:30am. The parade will start promptly at 9 am. The ceremonies conclude by about 10/11:00am, but stick around to watch as the rep players take to the diamonds for some of the first games of the season! (weather permitting)
WHAT TO WEAR
Dress warmly as mornings are still cool but once you receive your team jersey be sure to put it on over your clothes and don't forget to wear your cap! (Comfortable shoes are also recommended)
OPENING CEREMONIES
There will be speeches given by NBA Executive Members as well as by Town Dignitaries. The Mayor, John Taylor will throw out the first pitch and open the 2025 season!!
SPECIAL GUEST
We welcome our special guest that was introduced last year! HOMER the NBA official mascot will be available for photos after the ceremonies.

All players from 7U to 18U are required to wear grey baseball pants to complete their uniform. Rawlings and Atlhetic Knit grey baseball pants will be on sale at the Fairgrounds on opening day starting at 10:00am. Pants are sold for $20 (Rawlings Elastic bottom pants) CASH ONLY PLEASE. We have pre-sale days on Thursday May 1st 4pm to 6pm and Monday May 5th from 6pm to 8pm at the NewmarketFairgrounds (Pre sale dates are weather permitting so check for an email in the morning in case we have to cancel one of these dates or reschedule) Pants will also be sold on Tuesday May 20th from 4pm to 6pm after the long weekend.
NEWMARKET HAWKS HATS
Hats will also be available for purchase on all pre-sale days and Opening Day. The official Newmarket Baseball hats come in two different styles and a variety of sizes. Hats are $35 each. These are New Era 5950 and 3930 hats that are custom made for our league.

All teams from 11U to 15U will have their first practice after the ceremonies. Please check the schedule which will be sent out early in May for the exact time and location for your first team practice.
NEWMARKET HAWKS GAMES
There will be Rep teams and Elite teams playing on each of the diamonds following the Opening Day Ceremonies until 9pm! Games will also be held at Armstrong Diamonds and Whipper Watson Diamonds from 11 to 1pm.
We hope to see everyone at the Opening Day Parade and Ceremonies!
