Hawks sweep Cardinals, 6 and 0 on the season

The Newmarket Hawks won both ends of their double-header in Innisfil, 8-0 and 14-4
NEWMARKET - The Hawks improved to 6 and 0 on the season, beating Innisfil 8-0 and 14-4 on Sunday. Next for the Hawks is a practice on Thursday before their first tournament of the season in Aurora.
"Yeah, we really blew it yesterday," said a despondant Coach Tim. "I mean, a shutout is nice and all, but where were the bats? 8 runs? Seriously? How are we going to become Grand Champions of the Universe of 8 and 9 year-old Baseball scoring 8 runs? And also, our run differential is only +58 now, instead of +60 if we'd won by Mercy Rule. These kids are going to run until they puke on Thursday night."
The Hawks first game of the Aurora Father's Day tournament is against Georgina at 4:30 pm on Friday.
"School schmool...those kids better be at BP early. I want perfection this coming weekend. Maybe we'll rent the Aurora sports dome for the day. In any case, we saw some good things in Innisfil. We may have found our 3rd baseman in Sebastian, and Jason caught a foul-tip 3rd strike for the out, which isn't something I thought we'd see this year. Our defence was very solid, anchored by Chris at 1st base and Cruise at Pitcher. James, Owen and Gabriel seem to be getting into their batting groove, making solid contact. Justin, Joey, Owen and Michael hit some hard shots to the outfield. Luke made a bad throw at shortstop and brought great shame upon his family, but otherwise played okay."
Good seats are still available for the tournament. To clarify, there is no BP on Friday and nobody will have to run until they puke on Thursday, Luke did not bring me shame, and I'm extremely proud of this team's effort, sportsmanship, and performance. And I'm really glad they're having fun.
