Rookie Select Hawks Play Markham Today
2014-06-01Newmarket Rookie Select Hawks play the Markham Mariners today at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm at the Newmarket Fairgrounds.
NEWMARKET The Newmarket Rookie Select Hawks hope to remain unbeaten this season when they face the Markham Mariners at 4:00 pm in a double-header at the Newmarket Fairgrounds.
"It's a big day, big day...4-0 is a heck of a lot more impressive than 2-0. I don't know what to expect from Markham," Coach Tim said over his morning cup of coffee.
"I mean, our advanced scout, Cruise, says Markham is really good. But, hey, until I see something, they're just another team in the Hawks path of glorious perfection!!!"
Once Coach Tim stopped bouncing on the couch, he continued...
"Okay, perfection might be too much to ask from the kids. And, to be honest, there's lessons in losing games as well. We're really looking forward to a fun afternoon of baseball and we'll see how things go. Hank is out of the lineup for at least Game 1, so we'll try and spread the playing time around so that nobody has to sit twice. We're juggling the infield lineup slightly and trying to firm up the positions a bit so that the kids know what they're doing on a play to play basis..."
At press time, Coach Tim was still rambling. Good seats are still available.
