The Newmarket Baseball Association 2024 season begins in less than two weeks! We are excited to invite all of our players and their families to the Newmarket Baseball Annual Opening Day Parade and Ceremonies!

VOLUNTEERS!
Adults and High School Volunteers are needed for Opening Day! If you are interested in Volunteering on May 11th from 8am until noon please contact Danielle Edwards at admin@newmarketbaseball.com. This is a good opportunity for high school students to earn volunteer hours.
HOUSE LEAGUE COACHES
All of our coaches and assistant coaches are encouraged to attend the parade to meet your players and hand out the team jerseys. If you can't attend, see if there's another parent from your team that is going who can hand them out. A separate email with instructions will be sent out to all coaches with further instructions over the next week!
REP/SELECT/ELITE COACHES
All coaches from rep, select and elite teams that are available to join the parade ceremonies should come with your team to the starting point of the parade and plan to walk down with the players.
HELP! I DON’T KNOW WHAT TEAM I’M ON
Emails will be sent out to all registered players with their team information prior to the start of the season. If you don't receive that email by May 10th, please email admin@newmarketbaseball.com. At the parade look for members of the NBA Volunteers holding clipboards. These volunteers will have team rosters and can direct you to the right team.
TEAM JERSEYS
Your coach or a designated volunteer will be handing out the jerseys before the start of the parade. When you arrive at the park you will join your coach and receive your jersey and cap for the season.
PARADE INFORMATION
All players will proudly display their team colors as they march down Timothy Street to the Fairgrounds to meet the NBA Executive, Town Officials, and the Mayor of Newmarket, John Taylor who will be throwing the “First Pitch” to officially start the 2024 Season!
WHEN: Saturday, May 11, 2023, 8am to approx 10/11am
WHERE: All Our Kids Play Park (also known as the Dinosaur Park). The Park runs north off of Timothy Street in Newmarket. It is between the Newmarket Community Centre (Riverwalk Commons, where the skating rink was) and the condo lofts at 543 Timothy St. The train tracks run along its western border.
PARADE FORMATION: Teams from each division line up behind their team flag (e.g. T Ball at the front, then 7U then 9U etc.)
PARADE ROUTE: We will march east on Timothy Street, cross Prospect with the help of York Region Police, continue down the hill to the Fairgrounds, and end up at the main diamond at McKnight/The Fairgrounds Park. We expect about 500 parade participants will all get there by 9:30 am.
TIME
Please arrive between 8am and 8:30am. The parade will start promptly at 9 am. The ceremonies conclude by about 10/11:00am, but stick around to watch as the rep players take to the diamonds for some of the first games of the season! (weather permitting)
WHAT TO WEAR
Dress warmly as mornings are still cool but once you receive your team jersey be sure to put it on over your clothes and don't forget to wear your cap! (Comfortable shoes are also recommended)
OPENING CEREMONIES
There will be speeches given by NBA Executive Members as well as by Town Dignitaries. The Mayor, John Taylor will throw out the first pitch and open the 2024 season!!
SPECIAL GUEST
We welcome our special guest that was introduced last year! HOMER the NBA official mascot will be available for photos after the ceremonies.

All players from 7U to 18U are required to wear grey baseball pants to complete their uniform. Rawlings and Atlhetic Knit grey baseball pants will be on sale at the Fairgrounds on opening day starting at 9:30am. Pants are sold for $20 (Rawlkings and AK Elastic bottom pants) CASH ONLY PLEASE. We have pre-sale days on Wednesday May 1st 5pm to 7pm, Friday May 3rd 5pm to 7pm and Saturday May 4th noon to 2pm also at the Fairgrounds (Pre sale dates are weather permitting so check for an email in the morning in case we have to cancel one of these dates or reschedule)
NEWMARKET HAWKS HATS
Hats will also be available for purchase. The official Newmarket Baseball hats come in two different styles and a variety of sizes. Hats are $35 each. These are New Era 5950 and 3930 hats that are custom made for our league.
Retro House League hats will also be available for purchase. These are leftover hats from the 1990s/early 2000s. These hats come in a variety of colors with an embroidered N on the front. These hats are being sold for only $5 each (while supplies last) CASH ONLY!!

Miller Orthodontics will be handing out items to all of our players that stop by to play PLINKO. Be sure to stop by and say hello!
ICE CREAM!!
The Ice Cream Truck will be on site selling ice cream and cold drinks. (Weather Permitting)
T-BALL PLAYERS
Immediately after the opening Ceremonies all T-Ball players and their families are invited to join Coach Chris on the soccer field for a fun skills and development practice. Please bring your glove and plan to stay for an extra 30 minutes to join the fun.
7U to 15U PRACTICES
All teams from 7U to 15U will have their first practice after the ceremonies. Please check the schedule which will be sent out early in May for the exact time and location for your first team practice.
NEWMARKET HAWKS GAMES
There will be Rep teams and Elite teams playing on each of the diamonds following the Opening Day Ceremonies.
We hope to see everyone at the Opening Day Parade and Ceremonies!
