2011 Rookie Champions - Best Eclat

With dark clouds seen in the sky, the weather held as Best Eclat Dry Cleaners faced Nicole McCann State Farm for the final rookie game of 2011.  

The coaches Bryan Edwards and Carolyn Rusin shook hands at the beginning of the game and wished each other good luck and the game began.

Nicole McCann was up to bat first earning the maximum 5 runs with RBI's by Micheal, GianLuca (bringing in two runners), Cody and Wyatt.  Best Eclat took their at bat determined to tie the score.  They were able to score 5 runs with RBI's by Dalton (bringing in two runners), Ben, Ian, and Matthew.  Great defensive plays for the first inning by Nicole McCann's 3rd basemen Ryan and by Best Eclat's 2nd basemen Bradley.  The score was tied 5-5.

The second inning began and Nicole McCann took their turn at bat and was able to score one run with an RBI by Ryan.  Best Eclat had  defensive plays by Hunter on first base and by Charlie with an amazing double out!  Best Eclat was up to bat.  With strong batting they were able to score 5 more runs with singles by Kurtis, Nate and Bradley, a double by Dalton and a triple by Hunter.  Nicole McCann had great defensive plays by 2nd basemen Adam. The score was 10-6.

In the third inning Nicole McCann took their turn at bat and was determined to continue their consecutive hitting streak with all players at bat hitting with no strike outs so far.  With 5 batters up from Nicole McCann they were unable to earn any runs with a pop fly caught by Best Eclat's shortstop Charlie who also tagged up a runner off his base at 2nd.  Another defensive play at 1st base by Bradley brought the inning to a quick end.

Best Eclat took their turn at bat.  After only 4 batters, bases were loaded.  With an awesome attempt at a Grand Slam home run, Bradley cracked the ball into left field bringing in 3 runners and attempting to make it back to home himself.  It was a good attempt but he was sent back to third by the umpires.  He made it to home with an RBI by Nate.  Nicole McCann made a great defensive plays with Matthew playing ss.  He got a grounder and threw to 2nd base making a successful out.  Matthew stopped the ball a second time and tagged the runner going to 3rd base for the first two outs.  Best Eclat's batter struck out ending their inning with 4 runs.

Nicole McCann came back with a strong 4th inning scoring the maximum 5 runs!   RBI's go to Kyle, Ryan, Matthew, Michael and Jack.  Best Eclat was also able to earn 5 runs with RBI's going to Kurtis and Hunter who each brought in 2 runners and by Bradley who brought in the last run of the game.  

Nicole McCann took their last turn at bat.  Defensive plays were made in the fifth inning by Best Eclat's 3rd basemen Matthew and first basemen Dalton.  With singles by Nicole McCann's Gianluca, Cody, Justin and Ryan and doubles by Wyatt and Liam they were able to score 3 more runs. Wyatt brought in 2 runners and Kyle brought in 1 runner.   Nicole McCann was up to bat 35 times and had 34 consecutive hits!  Coach Carolyn was overheard saying she saw a "huge improvement" of her teams batting skills by playoffs compared to earlier in the season.

The final score of the game was 19-14 with the Championship title going to Best Eclat!  Congratulations!!
