08 Minor Rookie Hawks take Silver in London
2016-07-18
The Minor Rookie Hawks lost to the London West Tincaps in the Finals.
Sunday morning's "A" Semi-Finals matchup pitted the Hawks against the Woodstock Wranglers. The Hawks stormed out to a 10-0 lead, then forgot how to play baseball for 3 innings, then remembered in time to win 16-13 in an extra inning. The Woodstock coaching staff and fans were anxious to repeatedly share their opinions regarding defensive positioning, both on the field and in the parking lot afterwards.
The Finals saw the Hawks play the host London West Tincaps. The Tincaps defense was very strong and the Hawks only managed to score 3 runs, losing 15-3 in 5 innings. The game was full of good sportsmanship, effort and enthusiasm. Afterwards, the Hawks received their Finalist trophies.
The Hawks continued their solid play on Monday night with a 17-5 win over Bolton, moving to 8 and 3 on the regular season. The Hawks practice Wednesday and Saturday before their game Saturday afternoon against East York. Good seats are still available.
