New NBA Logo for 2015!!! (updated)

The Newmarket Hawks will be rockin’ a new look for the 2015 season.

The Newmarket Baseball Association adopted the logo of the senior Newmarket Hawks club at its executive management committee meeting Wednesday night.

The new logo is a sleek, contemporary hawk that has been used for the past several years by the senior Hawks. It replaces a muscular bat-wielding bird associated with the minor league Rochester Red Wings’ former logo.

The new logo will be depicted on the organization’s rep team caps, apparel and other soft goods.

The NBA lineup features 19 rep teams and one select team for the 2015 season in addition to house leagues ranging from entry levels to juniors.

Although no official link exists between the youth and senior Hawks programs, both use the basic green and gold colour scheme of the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball.

“Most of our kids are familiar with the logo and the senior Hawks and (the senior Hawks) are on board with it,” NBA president Tim Boswell said. “We were looking for something more contemporary and they had it. I think it’s a great logo and will work well and be a hit for us.”

The new look is the fourth official logo for the NBA, which enters its 56th season in May. By contrast, the Toronto Blue Jays have had at least a half-dozen logos since their inception in 1977.
