The NBA Junior Rookie Tournament is a longstanding annual tradition on July 1 at the Town of Newmarket’s Kanata Summer Festival. Thank you for registering your child and becoming a part of this great event!
Mother Nature, however, has thrown us a serious curveball this year. Given the record amount of rain that has fallen on us so far this spring/early summer, we were just notified by the Town’s Canada 150 staff that the recent flooding around Fairy Lake has made the park area there unusable for large crowds. Most of the Town’s Canada 150 events will be moved to Riverwalk Commons.
And since we know the kids still want to play ball, the Town has offered the use of the Fairgrounds for our tournament. Since Diamond #2 there is also flooded and unplayable, we are using Fairgrounds Diamond #1 which is the one closest to York Curling Club at 220 Muriel St. Please see the attached file for the tournament schedule, player rosters and coaches, prize timing, and related information. Click HERE.
From this point forward, your tournament contact is Chris Mellin, NBA’s VP – Junior House League (chris.a.mellin@gmail.com). Chris will also be on-site at the Fairgrounds on July 1.
Have fun and Happy Canada 150!
