The Newmarket Baseball Association 2026 season begins in just over a week! We are excited to invite all of our players and their families to the Newmarket Baseball Annual Opening Day Parade and Ceremonies! Opening Day is Saturday May 9th from 8am to 11am!

VOLUNTEERS!Adults and High School Volunteers are needed for Opening Day! If you are interested in Volunteering on May 9th from 8am until noon please contact Danielle Edwards at
admin@newmarketbaseball.com. This is a good opportunity for high school students to earn volunteer hours. Volunteers are needed for setup/clean up, chaperones during the parade, coordinators and for other various tasks throughout the event.
HOUSE LEAGUE COACHESAll of our coaches and assistant coaches are encouraged to attend the parade and meet other coaches and players from your division.
REP/SELECT/ELITE COACHESAll coaches from rep, select and elite teams that are available to join the parade ceremonies should come with your team to the starting point of the parade and plan to walk down with the players.
HELP! I DON’T KNOW WHAT TEAM I’M ONAll players will receive an email prior to Opening Day with their team information, coach contact info and their schedule. We are in the process of moving the website to the new system. Players will be invited to download the Ramp Interactive Team App which will show your team, coach, and schedule when it's available. Emails will be sent out as soon as schedules/teams are finalized.
TEAM JERSEYSJerseys will be handed out to all players that attend the Opening Day event. Please pick up your jersey from your coach! If you aren't able to attend Opening Day you will receive your jersey at your first game/practice.
PARADE INFORMATIONAll players will march down Timothy Street to the Fairgrounds to meet the NBA Executive, Town Officials, and the Mayor of Newmarket, John Taylor who will be throwing the “First Pitch” to officially start the 2026 Season!
WHEN: Saturday, May 9, 2026, 8am to approx 10am
WHERE: All Our Kids Play Park (also known as the Dinosaur Park). The Park runs north off of Timothy Street in Newmarket. It is between the Newmarket Community Centre (Riverwalk Commons, where the skating rink was) and the condo lofts at 543 Timothy St. The train tracks run along its western border.
PARADE FORMATION: Teams from each division line up behind their team flag (e.g. T Ball at the front, then 7U then 9U etc.)
PARADE ROUTE: We will march east on Timothy Street, cross Prospect with the help of York Region Police, continue down the hill to the Fairgrounds, and end up at the main diamond at McKnight/The Fairgrounds Park. We expect about 5-600 parade participants will all get there by 9:30 am.
TIMEPlease arrive at the playground between 8am and 8:30am. The parade will start promptly at 9 am. The ceremonies conclude by about 10/10:15am, but stick around to watch as the rep players take to the diamonds for some of the first games of the season! (weather permitting)
WHAT TO WEARDress warmly as mornings are still cool but once you receive your team jersey be sure to put it on over your clothes and don't forget to wear your cap! (Comfortable shoes are also recommended)
OPENING CEREMONIESThere will be speeches given by NBA Executive Members as well as by Town Dignitaries. The Mayor, John Taylor will throw out the first pitch and open the 2026 season!!
SPECIAL GUESTWe welcome our special guest HOMER the NBA official mascot will be available for photos after the ceremonies.

PARKING
There is limited parking available at the Community Centre and Riverwalk Commons. Many families park at the fairgrounds/curling club and walk to where the parade starts. That way they are close to their vehicle when the festivities are over! You can also park on surrounding streets where permitted.
HOUSE LEAGUE PANTS
All players from 7U to 18U are required to wear grey baseball pants to complete their uniform. Rawlings and Athletic Knit grey baseball pants will be on sale at the Fairgrounds on opening day starting at 10:00am. Pants are sold for $20? including tax. CASH ONLY PLEASE. (Stay tuned for additional sale days that will take place as soon as the pants arrive and will also take place after opening day!)
NEWMARKET HAWKS HATS
Hats will also be available for purchase on all pre-sale days and Opening Day. The official Newmarket Baseball hats come in two different styles and a variety of sizes. Hats are $35 each.

NEWMARKET HAWKS GAMES? (Weather permitting)
There will be Rep teams and Elite teams playing on each of the diamonds following the Opening Day Ceremonies until 9pm! Games will also be held at Armstrong Diamonds and Whipper Watson Diamonds from 11 to 1pm.
