NEWMARKET - The TRG Bluebombers look to extend their season-starting winning-streak to 3 games tonight against Bauhaus Contracting at 6:30 at College Manor. Good seats are still available.
"Well, Bauhaus is obviously a German name, so we'll want to see some birth certificates and medical documents. We all remember the East Germans and their Olympic shaninigans," Coach Tim said while analyzing his line-up spreadsheet. "Hey, I'm in favour of letting the kids get as juiced up as they want, but until then we need to make sure it's a level playing-field."
The Bluebombers won their first 2 games 22-13 and 12-4 against the Smilemakers and Snap'd. We questioned Coach Tim about his coaching philosophy.
"Well, like I tell the kids, I've got 4 priorities. Try your best, be a good sport, have fun, and win. And that's the order of importance. Baseball is a game of mistakes. Hall of Famers get out 70% of the time. Everyone makes an error now and then...."
15 minutes later, after waxing poetically and quoting several Kevin Costner movies, Coach Tim talked about tonight's game.
"Yeah, it's a big game tonight. Big game. Dalton won't be there and we'll be working Tony and Brianna back into the lineup now that Scouts is done. Noah and Dylan will have to step up a bit in the infield, and hopefully the kids will put the bat on the ball. As long as we can make contact and force the defence to make plays, we'll compete with any team. I mean, except the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates. Now THAT was team. Willie Stargell is a handsome man. I still imagine him dancing to "We are Family" during quiter moments. Sister Sledge is a greatly underrated band."
